COMPUTER TIP
Do you know how to forward E-mails? Do you get tired of seeing tons of addresses on incoming e-mails? One time I counted over 200 addresses on an e-mail forwarded to me!!! No wonder our names and addresses are spread all over for anyone to use!!
Try these steps:
1
When you forward an e-mail: Click the FORWARD button, highlite and DELETE all of the other addresses that appear at the top of the message.
2.
Whenever you send an e-mail to more than one person, do NOT use the “to” or “ CC” fields for adding e-mail addresses. Always use the “BBC” (blind carbon copy) field for listing the addresses. This way, the people you send to will only see their own address.
3
Remove any “FW” in the subject line. You can re-name the subject if you wish or even fix spelling.
4
ALWAYS hit your “Forward” button from the actual e-mail you are reading. Ever get those e-mails that you have to open 10 pages to read the one page with the information on it? By Forwarding from the actual page you wish someone to view, you stop them from having to open many e-mails just to see what you sent.
5
About those e-mails that are petitions! It states a position and asks you to add your name and address and forward to 10 or 15 people or you entire address book.
FACT:
The actual petition is worth a couple of bucks to a professional spammer for the addresses. And does anyone really look at all those petitions that supposedly go to one Government agency or another?
Another one is the one that says to send this e-mail to 10 people and you will see something great happen to you! And there’s the “bad luck” ones! Do you really believe that?
Before you forward Amber Alerts, Virus Alerts, etc. check it out on www.snopes.com. Some of those “stories” are several years old, probably didn’t exist in the first place, and just take up our time and energy and are totally useless. Even some I have checked SAY they checked snopes, but when I check it, it’s totally different!
So be careful what you forward. They are usually a waste of time for everyone and are not what they seem!
